Vanessa E.
Crowe
Vanessa Crowe was born in the Weequahic section of Newark, New Jersey. She is a very proud alumnus of the Newark Public Schools. Vanessa is a graduate of Hawthorne Avenue Elementary School and Weequahic High School. She graduated from Kean University with a B.S. Degree in Communication Science with a concentration on Event Planning. Vanessa moved to Washington D.C. and became involved with for-profit and non-profit organizations. While in D.C., Vanessa gained over twenty years of hospitality and event planning experience. Vanessa received an up-close, inside view into the world of fashion while under the tutelage of acclaimed professionals in the fashion industry, including fashion show producer/runway coordinator Ron Cooke, fashion show commentator Kyle "The Voice" Abercrombie, photographer Johnny Gantt, and designers Vernest Moore and Kevin Lorenzo. Vanessa has produced fashion events for The University of the District of Columbia, and has also produced fashion events for the purpose of model and designer exposures.
In 1998, Vanessa was diagnosed with a hereditary kidney disease called PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease). She inherited the mutated kidney gene from the paternal side of her family. Being the only one of 6 siblings diagnosed with the disease, Vanessa is very familiar with the feeling of being ostracized and misunderstood. Vanessa is an active advocate for the awareness of kidney disease, and as a certified Dialysis Technician she uses her knowledge to promote kidney health. Vanessa's position in the hospitality industry has also allowed her involvement in events supporting life-altering illnesses such as the Leukemia Ball and Fight Night for Children. It is because of Vanessa's own experience and her involvement that she realizes the importance and necessary contribution of charitable organizations.
With the encouragement and support of Coretta Curtis, Vanessa Crowe founded Thee Walk With Me Lord Foundation. The foundation is designed to generate funding to help assist in the initiative to educate and support individuals and families affected by life-altering illnesses. As founder and CEO, Vanessa's responsibility is to be creative in developing innovative ways to utilize fashion in order to raise funds and draw the attention of a large number of people to the inside world of life-altering illnesses.
